Online Advocacy

1. Facebook - We currently have two Project Esperanza facebook groups (Project Esperanza & Project Esperanza at VT), as well as a Project Esperanza fan page. We encourage you to join our groups (whichever is appropriate for you), and "like" our page. The groups share upcoming events, announcements, pictures, and videos. The goal of the page is to engage people in discussion around the work that we do by posting articles and blog posts with relevent and conversation starting questions. We truly hope that you can participate here to make this even richer. We appreciate you sharing links that draw people to our groups and pages.

Lastly, we have a Change My Stars facebook page as well to engage volunteers and supporters of this program.

2. Blogs - Some are saying that blogs will one day replace newspapers. If you have a blog and a group of followers, you have a wonderful opportunity to advocate our work here. If you are a supporter and do not have a blog, consider creating one for the purpose of posting your experiences with Project Esperanza. You can reach new people that we never could without you. Here is an example of a blog one man made in order to do just this.

3. Twitter - We have a twitter account!  @projectesperanz - Follow us and stay up to date on all the latest happening with Project Esperanza.

4. Forward E-mails - Our largest financial supporter from 2009 until present got involved through his co-worker who used to consistently forward him our e-mail updates. You never know who will surprise you with their support! We appreciate it greatly when supporters forward update e-mails to others and seek their engagement and support as well.

5. Post on our blog. - If you lead your classroom, family, or group in an activity that supports Project Esperanza in some way or you just want to share your volunteer experience and the effects it has had on you, please write up a post complete with pictures and send it to Blog@EsperanzaMeansHope.org. If you are planning a fundraiser or event and want to announce it, please also send in a post! If it is appropriate, it will be posted the following week.

6. Search the Internet using GoodSearch.com with Project Esperanza (Winchester, VA) as your benefiting charity. Project Esperanza receives 1 penny for every search. You can download the GoodSearch toolbar for Project Esperanza. You can create an account with GoodSearch so that your searches and therefore contribution is kept track of and can also send an automated message to contacts to invite them to do the same.

7. Recruit people to receive updates. Along those same lines, you may have contacts who would like to be added to our e-mail updates list. You can help by keeping an eye out for people who are interested and sending along their names and e-mails to be added
