It is important to clarify that Project Esperanza is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Everything we have done has been in our efforts to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and to take care of the orphans, widows, and strangers. Our programs that take on responsibility of child development, such as our grassroots schools and program for street youth have Bible study and devotions built into the curriculum. However, we are, still, a community organization that seeks to include anyone and everyone wishing to serve with us (on the volunteer/employee end) or wishing to cooperate peacefully with us (on the beneficiary end).
Therefore, other programs that do not give us the responsibility of the participating parties’ childhood development such as our volunteer program and artist trainings for adults do not require participation in Bible studies or devotions. We are happy to include such adults in Bible study and discussion, but it is not a mandatory piece of someone’s participation.
Here are some core Bible verses that our organization is based on. We are called to love and we are taught how to love:
Matthew 22:36-40
1 John 3:16-20
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
1 John 4:16-18
John 13:35
James 1:27
