Our Faith

Our Values: Rooted in Compassion and Service

At Project Esperanza, our work is deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Every action we take stems from our commitment to love our neighbors as ourselves and to care for the orphans, widows, and strangers, as called for in scripture. This spiritual foundation guides our efforts to uplift and support the vulnerable communities we serve in the Dominican Republic.

For programs where we take on direct responsibility for child development, such as our schools and residential program for street youth, Bible study and devotions are thoughtfully integrated into the curriculum. These components are designed to nurture the holistic growth of the children in our care.

However, Project Esperanza remains a community organization dedicated to inclusivity. We warmly welcome and seek to cooperate peacefully with anyone and everyone who wishes to serve alongside us (as volunteers or employees) or who benefits from our programs. Therefore, participation in Bible studies or devotions is entirely optional. While we are always happy to facilitate Bible study and discussion for interested adults, it is not a mandatory aspect of their involvement.

Our organization is built upon core biblical principles that illuminate how we are called to love and serve:

  • Matthew 22:36-40: On loving God and neighbor.
  • 1 John 3:16-20: Demonstrating love through action and truth.
  • 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: The enduring qualities of love.
  • 1 John 4:16-18: God is love, and perfect love casts out fear.
  • John 13:35: By our love, all will know we are His disciples.
  • James 1:27: True religion is caring for orphans and widows in their distress.

These verses inspire our daily work, driving us to act with compassion, foster empowerment, and build a brighter future for all.
